Digby Scallop Days, the area's longest running festival, is a celebration of scallops, the scallop fishing industry and the people who brave the seas to harvest them. Digby Scallop Days is celebrated over a three day period starting on Friday and ending on Sunday. Every year the festival has a different theme, but the focus of the festival always remains on the local scallops and the fleet that harvests them.
Scallops from Digby are known worldwide for their delicious taste. All local eateries serve Digby Scallops, and whether they are seared, fried, or in a chowder, you will find them to be a succulent treat. You may also buy frozen scallops in one pound bags to take home and enjoy or let us serve you fresh scallops on the shell at our Digby Scallop Days Barbecue.
On Friday, vendors set up along Admiral's Walk and the festival formally begins with Opening Ceremonies, followed by live entertainment. On Saturday the festival is in full swing. Watch our Grand Street Parade. Visit our vendors on Admiral's Walk. Watch locals compete in the Scallop Shucking Competitions. Learn more about the industry through a scallop shucking demonstration or boat gear demonstration. You can even try your hand at shucking a Digby Scallop. On Sunday the must see events include the Woodsmen Competition and Scallop Days Car Show & Shine. The evening wraps up with a Ceremony of Flags, Closing Ceremonies and a fireworks show.
